With realistic movements and sophisticated programming, this robotic dinosaur is the closest children can get to controlling their own dinosaur. Multiple sensors in the dinosaur detect sound, movement, and touch, so the robot reacts to the environment around it, responding to stimuli depending on its mood: a pull of its tail and the dinosaur may bite and growl, while a touch of its chin might inspire it to nuzzle like a pet. Infra-red sensors help it avoid obstacles as it walks, runs, or stalks, while its head turns, tail whips, and it stops to sniff out prey. It even plays tug-of-war, and displays autonomous behavior such as chasing sounds. The dinosaur can also be guided using t he simple directional buttons on the handheld remote control, or the remotes laser light, which the robot will detect and follow. The remote comes with more than 40 preprogrammed functions and a demonstration mode for putting it through its paces. Dinosaur requires six AA batteries, and the controller requires three AAA batteries. Ages 8 and up. 32 L. (4 lbs.)
